“dramatically improves vehicular and pedestrian circulation at the complex five-way intersection of College, Laporte, Pine and Walnut”
Our proposal for this important downtown street and intersection reduces excess vehicular circulation and combines a neglected center parkway with added pedestrian areas to create highly programmable activity spaces. It replaces the long-ago demolished Colorado and Southern passenger depot with a new pavilion and dramatically improves vehicular and pedestrian circulation at the complex five-way intersection of College, Laporte, Pine and Walnut while also increasing the pedestrian focus where these streets intersect. The resulting plazas flanking College Avenue will improve the connection between downtown and the civic center.
