The Carnegie Center for Creativity set to open this summer

Construction is nearly complete at the completely renovated Community Center for Creativity (CCC).

Originally built in 1904 as a Library—a gift to Fort Collins from Andrew Carnegie—the library doubled in size in 1939 during the Works Progress Administration and included a public auditorium space.  The building later became the Fort Collins Museum and most recently the CCC.

More than a year of careful restoration lead by [au]workshop, Saunders Construction and the City of Fort Collins included entirely new building systems, a new elevator, refurbished windows (most of which had been covered in place in the 1970s) and a light filled open staircase.  The local sandstone exterior was cleaned and many details refurbished.  A new entry gate and a canopy were added to a much-improved accessible entry sequence.

Photos show the recent staircase railing installation.

Stay tuned for updates on the grand opening in early summer of 2024.
