[au]workshop’s design for this villa, part of a larger luxury resort on an exceptional island location includes richly detailed indoor-outdoor living spaces with a private pool and sunken floating seating area. We imagine a retreat between the Earth and water, between Asia and the Americas, between traditional and modern, between the open and the enclosed, between the landscape and the room and always floating between the ground and the sky.
Design influences include the remarkable land and its hues, its flora and fauna, its rich cultural history and existing on-site architectural and archeological features. The villa rests gently on the site and embraces expansive views all while connecting seamlessly to the land and ocean, providing sublime privacy for each guest using carefully placed fixed and movable walls, sheer draperies and landscape features.
