[au]workshop Bike to Work Initiative
There are many benefits to biking to work and Anne Nelsen, the president of the [au]workshop Bike to Work Initiative, is proof. She works incredibly hard and keeps a great attitude throughout the whole day. We truly appreciate her hard work and dedication. She inspires all of us to bike to work for not only the environment, but ourselves. Currently the members of the initiative include Randy Shortridge, Spencer Lindstrom, Nathan Pepper, Di Xiao, Brian Betsill, and the lovely Miss Beatrice.
Randy Shortridge is the president and treasurer of the [au]workshop Office Bicycle Maintenance Committee and the Bike to Lunch Initiative. Randy cares about the safety of bikers and gives everyone safety tips and makes sure the office bikes are safe for riding. We appreciate Randy dearly for helping with this often overlooked aspect to bike riding.
The summer of 2019 has been one to remember. It’s incredible to see our hard work come to life right in front of us. It has been a learning experience for all of us especially our incredibly talented interns who were able to help work on projects all summer before going back to school. On their last day we toured Confluence and they were able to see what they worked on right in front of them. [au]workshop is all about helping clients realize their visions, striving to add value by elegantly organizing uses, creating great places and developing cost conscious design strategies and we hope our interns carry that on through their future endeavors.
Gracie is pursuing a B. Arch degree at Cornell University and will begin her third year by studying abroad in Rome. She enjoys representing her design ideas through the iterative process of model making and experimenting with materials. She's excited to intern at [au]workshop because she shares their vision of designing spaces that create a balance between the natural and built environment. She looks forward to getting real-world experience in the architecture discipline, climbing Horsetooth Rock, and kayaking this summer.
We would like to introduce our newest employee, Di! She is very excited about her new position and we are lucky to have her join our team! You can read more about her here.
He has been here for awhile, but we're proud to announce that Nathan Pepper, one of our designers, has successfully completed the Architectural Experience Program and the Architectural Registration Examinations, and is now officially a licensed architect in the State of Colorado. With his licensure, the [au]workshop staff is now 100% licensed!
We're excited for him, and wish him a hearty congratulations.
[au]workshop is thrilled to be a part of this exciting new project in Cheyenne! The hotel and events center will be the largest in the state of Wyoming. The project will break ground later this year and will open in 2021. Along with the completion of another [au] project, 2021 is looking to be an eventful year for the firm!

The new headquarters for the Food Bank of Larimer County recently had their Grand Opening. The renovation of the existing warehouse building selectively demolished elements that allowed the reuse of major elements like the structure and plumbing. The design cleaned up the exterior, introduced used shipping containers that create various spaces for employees and volunteers, and opened up the interior office areas while bringing in some color to the space. A farewell…
I had an amazing time working as an intern at [au]workshop this summer! It was such a marvelous experience full of exceptionable people who were all too happy to pass on their knowledge. I learned invaluable things over the course of the past few months, and I cannot wait to take that experience into the next chapter of my life.
The size of this firm was perfect. There were enough people to get a variety of tasks, yet small enough where I got to know everyone and feel like I got to be a part of something special. This was my second internship, and I can say that without a doubt that this was the better fit for me. This is the kind of firm that I can envision myself spending a lifetime with. I wish the best of luck to the people at [au]workshop, and I cannot thank them enough for welcoming me with open arms.
Thanks for everything, and I hope our paths cross again,
Kat
